Why would registered sex offenders stick a sign on their door which basically tells everyone in the neighbourhood where they live and that they molest children? They might as well make a poster saying 'hey, got a pitchfork and a bunch of mates? Come, lynch me now!'.

It's some wacky new thing they do here: they allow folks to serve their time in jail and be rehabilitated, and then they slap'em with a scarlet letter so they don't get out of line. We have databases of sex offenders and folks can actually check and see if there are any in neighborhoods they are looking to buy homes in. This is mildly hilarious to me, since part of my job concerns the right of public citizens to know what hazardous chemicals are wafting through the air from nearby plants, etc. XP
