Oh for the love of GAWD.

Catching up on ontd_trek posts and apparently I missed "Munngate"- i.e. bitches were hatin' on Chris Pine's new girlfriend, Olivia Munn, hostess of a basic cable show. And a mod felt it necessary to step in and say "Hay guise? Not cool." and then was all "Sorry if you hate me for that, but you can kiss my ass because we're not stooping to this crap anymore." (The last was totally unnecessary- why apologize for wanting ontd_trek to stay hate-free?)
Personally? My crush is crushed (back in the drawer, romcom meme) but who the fuck cares who the guy's dating? Hell, given the state of the world (with all it's technology that by its very design separates us from each other even as it brings us close) and the craziness of everyday life, I'm *happy* for folks, be they slebs or otherwise, when they find anything resembling love. How can a fan claim to adore someone and then hate on the person they choose to love?
Pfft. Back to reading. Found a hardcover copy of Percy Jackson and The Olympians Book One on sale for cheap at Borders at lunch- the library was giving me no love, and since the book doesn't have a movie still on the front I figured it was a good investment.
Running late to meet Emily. Seize you later.

I've got the first three Percy Jackson and the Olympians books in paperback with non movie covers :-D I won't say anything about it though, not until you've read the first one at least. Suffice to say, i liked it.

Date: 2009-12-14 03:25 pm (UTC)Despite promising myself I wouldn't start PJ&O until I'd finished "Nation" I opened it up and read the first 10 pages and it's brilliant. I can't wait to get to it for real. :D
Looking forward to some book discussing there.
BTW- have you read that book about a young wizard who goes to college that's sort of Potter-ish? If I can find the title I'll let you know, but basically it came out a few months ago and got really good buzz. It's a darker, more realistic look at young people learning magic.

You've got a lot of awesome stuff to come :-D
Would "Nation" be by Terry Pratchett ? If so I read that book ages ago and enjoyed it a lot.
I've not heard of that, but i may well do some gooling to see if i can discover it. I've still not bought any ebooks for my Sony E Reader hehe

Date: 2009-12-14 03:31 pm (UTC)*LOL* Smart girl. I can't wait to get into the first one. It's Potter for American kids and rife with some awesome references to myth that I like- yeah, I read the first 10 pages. WHAT?!
I'm trying to finish something else first, but when I get into it, you'll be hearing from me. ;)
