Ooh, tonkatsu sounds LOVELY. I miss it! There was this place in Kyoto that is known for it. *tears up* In the absence of that, grab a Naran deer and roast it over a fire. There's a place in Nagano that does a nice deer roast, actually, but you have to bag your own critter and I can't even finish that thought because I'm laughing too hard at the thought of the HORRIFIED LOOKS this would get from my older Japanese friends.

Srsly, a bunch of us usually got together and went in on a turkey and the trimmings, potluck style- you have to poke around at the foreign food shops, but someone WILL have something. In fact, you might have more canned pumpkin there than we do here (there's a shortage Stateside, according to the paper). Whatever you end up doing, HAVE FUN!

And thanks! Looking forward to loading up and getting on the road this afternoon. Usually I stay later than I intend to at work, but NOT THIS YEAR.

And, a helpful diagnosis and effective PT? This is good news!!

Thanks! I found an in-network PT near the subway and he listened, took notes, did a more comprehensive eval than the ortho guy, and then brought out the plastic model skeleton and said, "The area you pointed to on your body where it hurts is *here*" (points to hip joint) "And when you said that I thought of *sth*" and then he sent me off to work with a therapist for a bit, cracked my joints for me, wrote me a note and suggested I come back next week. I have 5 pages of exercises to do 2-3 times a day (so far FAIL- catching up on my sleep has dominated my time) and best of all NO. DRUGS. He said that muscle relaxants are the best thing, but only when necessary. "Necessary" for me is "bleeding out the ears", so that pleased me to no end. I feel so much better and I'm walking normally. Turns out I sit funny in my chair and that was a big part of what threw my muscles out of whack and lead to having an inflamed hip joint. Which is treatable in the extreme! That said, bummed I can't go 'boarding this weekend, but it's probably better if I don't. *sigh*

Still, walking without pain and sleeping through the night FTW!
