This is what I need to hear from Sarah Palin tonight.

I'm an Obama-supporter. That said, it would be really nice if Sarah Palin didn't go down in history as being a total airhead with a runaway mouth, a ditz, a hothouse flower, weak, etc.[Poll #1271242][Poll #1271242]

Love the apathetic option.

But really, while it would be nice to hear Palin say something like that...it isn't going to happen. Because that doesn't seem to be the way she feels.

She shouldn't give Palin ideas like actually campaigning for the job. I mean, with a strategy that goes beyond mocking democrats.

Palin doesn't read the Post, darling- it has foreign words in it. ;)

for the sake of the mccain ticket, she should certainly say that, but i'd rather hear more mumbling, flubbing, and peculiar mumbo-jumbo from her.

i've watched the "stunning" gubernatorial debate footage and the only thing that's stunning about it is that she seemed able to speak linear english during those. she's a terrifying combination of balls-to-the-wall confidence and dumb-as-toastness.

[identity profile] raven-feathers.livejournal.com 2008-10-02 07:18 pm (UTC)(link)
of course she reads the post, she reads "all of 'em"!!

As an Obama supporter myself, I would definitely rather she didn't acquit herself properly, don't get me wrong, however at the same time it would be really great if she proved to have more than air in her head instead of demeaning the office she's running for and insulting the voters with her current "balls-to-the-wall confidence and dumb-as-toastness". (I like that. I'm STEALING that.)

Maybe I should have been more clear about that in my post, now that I think about it...

Yes, but which sections? I figure her for a Style and Metro girl, myself. ;)

The woman makes Dan Quayle look like a freaking Nobel Laureate, and she wants to be one heartbeat away from the presidency. I don't think so.

[identity profile] loveweasleys04.livejournal.com 2008-10-02 07:35 pm (UTC)(link)
It's a little too late for me. She had her chance(s) and she blew it. She fumbled around answers with Katie she made outlandish remarks on tape and then when they tried to put a bandade over it, it just got infected.

I am so done with her, although I was never really for her and by now I am probably so biased my opinion doesn't even matter.

[identity profile] rastaban43.livejournal.com 2008-10-02 07:48 pm (UTC)(link)
I am apathetic I suppose, but I definitely think Palin is getting more flack than she deserves. I'm all about fairness and I don't see anything fair in the media where Obama-Biden slantedness is concerned. The American people should vote for Obama because they want to, not because the media is telling them they should. What the fuck happened to objectivity?

[identity profile] rampantwhistler.livejournal.com 2008-10-02 08:22 pm (UTC)(link)
At this point, I think the only way that Palin can redeem herself is to come out and prove that she can string together a coherent thought about a relevant issue without dancing around the details--bonus points if she can do so in a way that doesn't sound like she's reading off a note card given to her in her little VP Debate Bootcamp and memorized overnight. She can talk about being a governor all she wants, but until she can show us where that experience has gotten her and how specifically that makes her ready for the job at hand (like any good resume), then she's going to stay in hot water, at least in my eyes.

[identity profile] gahdzuks.livejournal.com 2008-10-02 08:30 pm (UTC)(link)
I agree with her, but I don't think the "mother of five" bit helps her. She's either superhuman and finds time to both run a country and run a family, or she lets one of them sit on the back burner... which makes me think less of her. If she had fewer kids I'd be more inclined to believe she can do whatever, but five of them with one being special needs is just a bit insane.

Regardless, I've known too many women like her and I didn't like any of them. I couldn't vote for her for any reason short of her turning liberal... which is beyond unlikely.

It's not solely Palin's politics that alarm me, it's her politics coupled with her inexperience.

Is it really the media's fault if Palin, doing what every presidential and vp candidate before her has done by granting interviews to express her stance on the issues, keeps sticking her foot in her mouth on national television? Don't we have the right to see her discourse on important topics and hear her views, no matter how much we disagree or find her unintelligible? Or are you agreeing that the media is being sexist? Just asking.

[identity profile] lillbet.livejournal.com 2008-10-02 08:42 pm (UTC)(link)
Agreed. It would be nice if she managed to say something clear tonight, though. :/

God, I'm naive.

[identity profile] gahdzuks.livejournal.com 2008-10-02 09:10 pm (UTC)(link)
I have half a dozen other reasons why I could never, ever vote for her, the most prevalent of which are her politics. After that it's her inexperience, her personality, her willingness to be a trophy candidate, her apparent lack of intelligence, and pretty much everything that woman stands for both politically and morally. I don't like her. I don't like McCain. Hell, I don't like Obama that much, but he's the lesser evil. None of the independent candidates are particularly appealing, so Obama is really the only one I can consent to chucking in with.

Damn, if only Hillary was still in the running I might be more gung-ho about politics, but I'm stuck with the whole "lesser evil" scenario. If the economy weren't so shitty I'd fill my tank, head for Canada, and hide out in the woods with the bears and the moose until the world implodes.

Nor any pictures!

I'm hoping she'll provide me with a few more icons, actually ... You couldn't make up stuff like this!

[identity profile] thereal-anabel.livejournal.com 2008-10-02 10:14 pm (UTC)(link)
Love your icon!

[identity profile] lillbet.livejournal.com 2008-10-02 10:19 pm (UTC)(link)
And I like yours!

Thanks! You can steal it if you want, I made it :D

Hmm ... I think some of the media is using sexism tactics that might appeal to the conservative crowd, but I don't think they'd be any less ravenous against a male VP for the GOP since Obama is their unqualified Messiah. The problem is, the left is turning a blind eye to the sexism because it suits them in the moment, and that's pretty unfortunate. If Palin continues to shoot herself in the foot (which is something Biden's better at doing, I'm afraid) by opening her mouth, of course it's her own problem. But she was probably just as surprised at the nomination as the rest of the world, and she really isn't well-trained in presenting herself to the media. That'll come in time, obviously. If she can nail this debate, it might be the rest of the world putting their collective foot in their mouth. And if she can't, it won't be a big surprise and she'll continue to be fodder for Obama's media. If it was just mistrustful media, that'd be OK. But it's all Obama's media essentially and that makes it wrong.

Yeah, and I'd like a Lotus and a house in Malibu too, while we're striving for the impossible. *g*

the best word i have heard sum up sarah palin is "farce"

[identity profile] matthewrodney.livejournal.com 2008-10-03 12:22 am (UTC)(link)
also, palin will not say that, because she will be abandoning her stance that she knows everything -- she just doesn't wanna give the details and isn't ready for public exposure yet. palin doesn't even know enough to say she doesn't know enough.
