I don't know how I feel at this point.

The original movie was fun, but after seeing the show it was revealed (the movie) to be oceans of suck.

The guy on Fear.net brings up a good point- a reboot could be good, and maybe SMG is kinda, you know, tired.

I have no problem with a relaunch with a new slayer, because new slayers set in the future are always possible, but without Joss Whedon at the helm, I'm not impressed, especially as I've been reading the Buffy Season 8 comic book, and way that its been leading, the new movie wouldn't be canon in my head.

Also, I hate the Kuzuis- they are the ones responsible for the movie and they want to do it AGAIN??? WHY??? That's the equivalent of setting yourself on fire, healing, and then saying to yourself, "Gee, I could have done that better!" getting out the matches again, and...

It's the only comic that I actually follow religiously, though The Boyfriend buys a lot of different ones. I'm liking it, but the problem with comic books is that they are like watching soap operas. It takes forever.

I'm curious as to what the plot would be.

Yeah, the thing about comics I've sort of gotten over as I've aged *sob* is that it takes 6 books to cover a conversation/militant action/fight/love story. It's hammy. It's silly.

LOL, no I'm not that fangirlish. Generally we'll go to the comic book shop every two/three weeks and buy everything we missed at once.

Comic Book Guy made fun of me once when I went in by myself to buy a birthday present. "Aren't you normally here with that guy? He gets the comics while you look at the toys while you wait?" He's got me pegged :)

By the way, have you read "Fray"? It's sort of a spin-off. I liked it, but not in an OMG! sort of way. If you haven't read it, give it a spin- I'd love to hear what you think.

There are toys - no Edward toys at this store - it is far too hardcore and Twilight isn't included ;) It's got awesome collectible stuff that no one can afford (like $300 Sandman bookends that I want but can't rationally spend the money on...), and cheaper action figurey type stuff.

We are big nerds. I'm probably into anything you can think of geekwise. I have a Tardis that lights up and makes noise. There is an Optimus Prime transformer in our bedroom.

I've read Fray. It was alright, though I felt it finished rather abruptly and left me feeling slightly unfullfilled. Actually , in Season 8, Buffy goes to the future and is with Fray for a couple issues. Which was badass.

Pfft. I used to hang out with folks who reenacted. On purpose. And watched "The Tick". A light up Tardis is NOTHING. *iz jealous*

Yeah, I saw that bit on Wikipedia about the crossover between Fray and Buffy- very cool. I'd love to get a hold of that issue in the flesh some time, because I'm sure Wikipedia did not get the full measure of the awesome.

And I felt the same way, though, the Fray comic ended a bit too abruptly with the killing of her watcher and her brother being all "GAH!". I felt like they weren't sure if it was a series and whether they wanted to tie everything up, but I like a bit of conclusion in my endings. Just a smidge.

Speaking of which, I should probably return it to the person I borrowed it from... two years ago. Agh. Xp

I saw Edward James Olamos and Aaron Dougles from BSG at Toronto Comic Con last year. It was very exciting and I squealed girlishly.

A friend of a friend was performing at Bosticon a few years ago when I was in grad school at Emerson and we got to hang out- he got me in for free. The filking was nuts, but drum circles are... no, they scare me too.

While Whedon is the person most associated with "Buffy," Kuzui and her Kuzui Enterprises have held onto the rights since the beginning, when she discovered the "Buffy" script from then-unknown Whedon. She developed the script while her husband put together the financing to make the 1992 movie, which was released by Fox.

That's an excellent question- at the end of the series they were all "Oh, so now we should probably go tend to that other Hellmouth that's in Wichita, you know, just in case." and all I could think was "YOU MEAN THERE'S MORE THAN ONE??? DOES IT MIGRATE?" and "WHO WAS MINDING THAT STORE WHILE YOU BASTARDS WERE SWANNING AROUND SUNNYDALE? DAMN IRRESPONSIBLE TEENAGERS!"

Um, no, I've never watched the Buffy TV show. but the original movie was good. But I've seen a lot of Josh Wheldon's stuff, and I would think that replacing him is kind of like replacing Gene Roddenberry.

I definitely think that relaunching the Buffster without her creator is a bad move- much like leaving Gene Roddenberry out of any new Trek project (when he was alive- now it's a different ball of wax).

Well, I sorta lost interest in the series when they left high school, though there were some good episodes, and when Buffy died and the show went from one network to another, that kinda... meh.

But really it's the fact that Whedon's voice is very much the voice of the show. He is the creator of the canon, the language, everything. Without him, it just wouldn't BE Buffy.

I heard about it a couple days ago.
I'm... I don't know what I am. I'll have to wait and see what nonsense they come up with. The movie was alright, but I did like the show more... mostly for that reason listed in the article - Whedon's sense of humor. I remember feeling like I was losing brain cells watching it when I was younger (a lot of the jokes went right over my head) but after rewatching the first three seasons (and, of course, knowing Whedon's other works) I'm concerned that Buffy can't be properly done without his humor in the mix.
We'll see. That's all I can say.
