Booked my ticket to see Jess at the end of July.

Bought our tickets to see CHRIS PINE in "Farragut North"! HAVE THE TICKETS. OMG. OMG. CAN'T. BREATHE. ACTING. INSANE.

About play: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Farragut_North_(play) (Apparently it's based on Howard Dean's presidential run in 2004- there was talk of a movie, but that was almost two years ago, so who knows.)

What is it about you folks that I get inspired to do this madcap shite? First* it was ladybracknell 's trip to DC last fall, then a visit to Rusty in January, and now I'm buying tickets off a poster on ontd_startrek and flying off to see Jess. What's next? Paula in Buenos Aires? Tati in Germania? WHAT MADNESS AWAITS?!

Must go running now. Have to look haute for play.

Also, if you are an icon-maker, or just a rabid vampire fangirl, you NEED to go to dj_capslock and check out the "Day Watch" caps. "Day Watch" is a Russian vampire flick based on a novel of the same name, which is a sequel to "Night Watch". It's about two groups of 'pires- one Dark one Light- keeping the peace and trying to survive. The director is responsible for "Wanted"- which is sex- and he packed "Day Watch" (and presumably it's predecessor) with the same awesome effects. If you can find a version online WATCH. IT.

ETA: If you've heard about the Metro collision and are now rethinking your plans to visit the area, don't. Shit happens. We're fine and we want you to come and see us.

OMG - I'm totally going to see the play too!!!! July 21st!! I was already planning to be in San Fran that weekend for Azkatraz, so I figured it wasn't totally ridiculous to stop in LA for a night on the way home. :p

Fandom is the best excuse for travel, ha.

I was thinking of making CPine an "ontd_startrek" shirt, but knowing me I'll leave it to the last minute and forget. I'm totally going nuts over here, though. Do I mention that I work in DC (our offices used to be in Farragut North but are now closer to the White House and Obama eats lunch in the Bobby Van's in our building once in awhile) and that he should come and visit? AAAAAAH!

I have this list of places I take folks when they come to the city, and my mother does this amazing car tour of downtown when friends visit- I should gank her map and sell it. Seriously. But yes. Research is v. v. important for a SRS BSNS actor like Mr. Pine. *nods* (I'm thinking 53rd State for beers...)

You work downtown? We should lunch or drinks some time (preferably when you're convinced I'm not insane- no rush). BTW- how was the wrock show last night?

The wrock show was a lot of fun. Acoustic show, sitting under a tree on the Mall, wonderful weather....for the last song we were all standing in front of this club softball game, singing "Looking for Trouble" at the top of our lungs. They probably thought we were NUTS. :p

I *do* work downtown, very close to Metro Center. Lunch or drinks (or both at the same time!) would be fun!

The play is set in DC but its being performed in LA. The East Coast premiere was in NYC a year or two ago. But of course I'm flying over to the West Coast to see it. Will do! Andi might drive down as well, so it will be great to meet her as well if she can make it. Thanks. Yeah, the crash happened on the other end of the red line- my stop is on the other side of DC. My friend Patti, who I talk about sometimes on my blog, would have been on that train (but in one of the back cars) if her hubs hadn't been unable to drive her to the station. She ended up driving herself to work and home again, thus missing the crash. I am so very glad she's okay.

Good call! I think it says in the entry that the play is based on the writer's experiences (though I'm guessing he did not get intern nookie). I'm excited. Andi says Jess will keep me from going all fangirly, which is good. I've got my fingers crossed. According to posters on ontd_trek he seems willing to greet and pose for pictures.

And yes, she did. She usually sits in the back of the train anyway, so I'm sure she would have been fine, but still- better not to have been in that situation at all.
